There are 4 different Bolt-On to Hook-On Conversion Brackets with the included hardware. The #711 Bolt-On to Hook-On Bed Frame Conversion Brackets provide vertical adjustment. If you need a vertical adjustment, the #711 should be the one for you. The #65 Adapto-Hook Bolt-on to Hook-On Conversion Brackets provide both vertical and/or width adjustment. The #65 conversion brackets are made to lift and suspend the headboard and/or footboard. If you have an older headboard that you do not want to have your bed's weight on it, the #65 should be a great match. The hooks on the #65 bracket point up instead of down. The #69 Bolt-On to Hook-On Bed Frame Conversion Brackets provide both vertical and /or width adjustment. The #69 bracket is almost like the #65 but, the #69 have the hooks that point down instead. The #69 brackets are used when you can have your headboard on the floor, and your headboard and/or footboard can have some or all of your bed weight on it. The #35 Hook Plate Conversion Adapter Kit for Using a Bolt-On Frame with a Hook-On Headboard comes as a pack of 4, enough for both the headboard and footboard. If you need a straight connection from the bedrail to the headboard and footboard, the #35 should be a perfect fit.

How to Assemble the Platform Metal Bed Frame (see above images)

• Step 1 - Assembles in minutes! Take all components out of the box and position them on the floor. Note: For twin size there is only one piece. Unfold each half and lay flat.
• Step 2 - Raise all six legs to the upright position. Each of the four end legs have separate support arms.
• Step 3 - Rotate the support arms to hook onto the bolts and tighten with installed wing nuts.
• Note: The two center legs do not require wing nuts. Tighten the wing nut until secure. Repeat the process for the remaining three end legs, making sure all wing nuts are tightly secured.
• Step 4 - Flip the base over to stand upright. Position the two halves together with keyhole locked in place.
• Step 5 - Put your mattress on top and enjoy!

Q: Do mattresses slide off easily? The picture shows the slats bowing so upwards that I can't imagine a mattress staying in place well, especially... 

A: My experience is the weight of the mattress will cause it to flatten out a bit, so once you place the mattress you won't see that much space between the mattress and the metal. Also the slat's are not slippery at all, it is uncoated natural wood, so this causes a bit of grip against the fabric bottom of the mattress, so it won't slide off easily. The mattress will feel as securely placed as any other frame.

 Q: If using bed frame for a Memory Foam mattress is it better to have a solid, contiguous resting surface (cut to size plywood) versus bare wire base? 
A: This frame is designed to be used with a memory foam mattress. Use it as it comes from the box. If you use plywood or other flat surface on the frame, your mattress will slip and slide. The wire grid prevents mattress slide, keeps bedding securely tucked in and safely supports the mattress without damage. My husband and I are very happy with this frame. It will support 2400 pounds of weight. unpacks and is ready to use in about 5 minutes. All you need to do it pull it out of the box, unfold it, attach the 2 wing nuts to the head and foot ends of the center posts. Put on your mattress and bedding. The queen frame weights between 30 and 35 pounds. The delivery box was 12-15 inches deep. You can easily carry the entire boxed frame up the narrowest stairwells. The box was size of a twin mattress folded in half, end to end. We give this product 5 stars for strength, ease of set-up, no mattress slide.
